National tech association names Susan Anderson as Senior Policy Advisor for its health division, ITAC Health

A health-tech leader lauded for role in transforming provincial healthcare system

Mississauga, ON (September 17, 2019) –  The Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) announced today that Susan Anderson, former Managing Director, Canada, Orion Health, will join ITAC’s health division, ITAC Health, as Senior Policy Advisor. Anderson will succeed Brendan Seaton, President, ITAC Health, who will retire at the end of the year.

“Susan brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare informatics, having served both the private and public sectors,” said Angela Mondou, president and CEO, ITAC. “Her insight around the advancement of health management, digital healthcare and innovative health solutions to enhance ITAC/ ITAC Health’s efforts in addressing the growing needs, challenges and opportunities around data, privacy and digital health technology.”

Before joining Orion Health, Susan was Assistant Deputy Minister and CIO for the Health Information Technology and Systems Division at Alberta Health. At Alberta Health, she played a pivotal role in transforming the province’s healthcare system. Today, it is one of the most digitally-connected systems in North America. She was also at the forefront of Alberta’s Electronic Health Record Implementation and helped to steer the expansion of the Electronic Health Record (HER). Susan has worked with private healthcare companies to reduce operating costs, has aided in Canada Health Infoway initiatives, and has furthered the adoption and innovation of eHealth within clinical practices across the country.

In addition to her role with Orion Health, Susan has received professional recognition in her leadership roles with Digital Health Canada.

“As I join ITAC Health’s team this Fall, I have the advantage of hindsight and  fifty years experience of applying automated technologies to address business and process and people challenges both here at home in North America, and abroad,” added Anderson. “The most significant lessons learned over the years include: leadership is key catalyst for necessary change in this dynamic world; and each individual has a contribution to make when availed of access and opportunity.”
