Information Technology Blog - - Classroom Learning vs E-Learning - Information Technology Blog

Nowadays, online training and learning through the web has become very popular. Some educational institutions offer electronic learning with advanced practical knowledge.

Some institutions prefer the traditional way of learning due to misconceptions. Every coin always has two sides. Similarly, web-based learning and traditional learning using the chalkboard both have pros and cons.

For some students, classroom training is more appropriate. And for certain students, they are comfortable with electronic learning. This article showcases the description, benefits, and difference of classroom learning and electronic learning.

Classroom Learning

As the name suggests, classroom learning comprises setting up a typical classroom environment with students and teachers. There is a physical presence of students and teachers. Classroom teaching promotes face to face interaction with teachers. Students could exchange their innovative ideas, expressions with the mentors. Difficulty in classroom training, mentor fails to give individual attention to all kids. So that students easily lack attention and focus from the class. How to help a child concentrate in class?

Benefits of Classroom Learning

  • When students have a physical presence in the classroom, students interact more with peers and teachers. Through social interaction, students could develop their interpersonal skills. Moreover, students respond positively to common people.
  • Every student may not prefer the same way of teaching. Some students find it difficult. Therefore, through classroom learning, the ways of teaching and expressing the ideas could differ according to the student’s capability.
  • Through classroom learning, students could nurture their presentation skills, communication skills, ability to solve a conflict and listening skills. Moreover, they can present their innovative and creative ideas in front of everyone. So, students get encouragement from peers and teachers.

E-Learning

The term e-learning could simply be stated as electronic learning i.e., utilizing proper electronic technologies and tools to deliver valuable lessons and concepts to the students. There are different e-learning techniques and tools – CD ROMS, audio and visuals, web-based learning, mixed learning, completely online and self-based learning.

Through e-learning, it is not necessary that there should be a physical presence of students and teachers. By the emergence of electronic learning, teaching method becomes easier. Students get practical knowledge and exposure through e-learning. Web-based learning provides a world-class education to the students.

The most benefit of using electronic learning is, students get individual attention by online mentors. Moreover, online mentors are available every time and there are no restrictions regarding time and place.

Benefits of E-Learning

  • By using printed learning, students could not get up to date information But, through electronic learning, students get updated information and deep knowledge.
  • Electronic learning does not provide limited content to the students. They offer a diversified syllabus. Moreover, students could learn their interested subjects apart from their academics.

Difference Between Classroom Learning and E-Learning

Virtual Environment

In electronic learning, students get virtual environment learning i.e., students learn through sounds and audio effects. Therefore the student gets practical knowledge regarding the subject. Through certain tools, in e-learning, they can develop their imaginative skills by narrating their own stories (buy inspirational story books). On the other hand, through classroom learning, the teachers cannot provide a virtual environment such as sound effects, but they can motivate the students by listening to their narrative stories. So that students get benefited in each way.

Learning Time

Another important difference between web-based learning and classroom learning is the learning time. Some students find difficult to learn certain concepts. Their learning time may differ. Both e-learning and traditional learning helps the students to make them learn. Through electronic learning, a student could watch many video tutorials until he/she is clear about the concept. Whereas, in-classroom learning, the teacher may change the style of teaching according to the student. So that students could easily understand the concepts.

Concentrating an Individual

Every student does not focus on every class. Sometimes students fail to gather the information. In classroom learning, mentor fails to gather everyone’s attention. Whereas, in web-based learning, there would be an online instructor, who always monitors each and every individual’s behavior. So that student’s concentration and focus never fail. Each and every student gets attention in academics.

Reviews and Feedbacks

Reviews and feedbacks do not vary in classroom learning and electronic learning. Through both the education system, students get reviews and feedbacks. In electronic learning, reviews and feedbacks are known instantly. Whereas, in-classroom learning, reviews, and feedbacks are known only after evaluating the exam sheets. Since the evaluation is manual, knowing the feedbacks and reviews may take some time.

Social Interaction

One of the biggest problem children face is social interaction. In classroom learning, students interact more with peers and colleagues. So that they can develop good communication skills and interpersonal skills. Whereas in the web-based learning method, students interact only with online mentors. The possibilities of communicating with others are quite less. Since they are dealing with online rather than real-time they could not able to develop presentation skills, communication skills. Sometimes, the student could lack his/her confidence while speaking to the public.

Age Limit

Everybody knows education has no age limit. Everyone can study at any age. They can develop their knowledge with respect to age. In electronic learning, whoever interested in any concepts can learn through the web. Moreover, they can develop their knowledge with diversified and updated content. Whereas in classroom learning also there is no age limit. But, some people who are quite elder feel different to sit in a class and make a physical presence. Therefore, they can use electronic mode to learn various concepts.

Conclusion

The important goal of electronic learning and traditional learning is to educate the children and who wishes to learn new concepts. Every coin has two sides. Similarly, electronic learning and classroom learning benefits children in unique ways. Everyone cannot afford an electronic way of learning.

Children should properly utilize their learning source. It is also important that every instructor should take care of each and every child. They should motivate the kids and encourage their creative ideas. Only through encouraging and motivating the kids, they may become a star.

An online instructor and teacher who is in the classroom should properly guide the children.
