TECHNATION (formerly Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC)) is seeking a full-time Data Analyst within the Future Workforce Development team.

 About the Role

Reports to A/VP, Future Workforce Development

This is a fixed term contract:

  • Start date: May 1st, 2020
  • End date: March 1st, 2022
  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Work may require effort beyond normal working hours and occasionally on weekends.
  • Work may require occasional travel within Canada and the U.S. to attend conferences or support Future Workforce Development initiatives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage and support TECHNATION workforce development data analysis needs to include:
  • Plan, analyze, and report on key data points on the Canadian workforce from multiple sources
  • Monitor Canadian labour market information for ICT trends,
  • Conduct online research of Canadian technical educational & training programs/program components
  • Liaise with national data generators and tap into data sources to support TECHNATION requirements
  • Support execution of interviews, focus groups and surveys in support of TECHNATION Future Workforce Development requirements
  • Develop and support data lifecycle management
  • Draft reports and recommendations
  • Support definition, development and maintenance of data sets used in TECHNATION platform/workforce development applications
  • Advise on data collection, analysis and reporting in terms of the application of artificial intelligence and data science in the Future Workforce Development Programs and online tools (realizing that this is an emergent field, basic knowledge is required with the expectation that the Analyst’s learning and experience in the role will enhance their ability to advise in this area).
  • Lead data structure and data definition discussions within TN to support improved data capture, use and management
  • Investigate and support development of technical statement of requirements related to data and data management
  • Participate in testing of tools once delivered by vendor prior to roll out, including assisting in the development and completion of a requirements acceptance matrix based on technical and non-technical requirements
  • Provide database management support
  • As a ‘content manager’, identify and modify content within TECHNATION workforce development applications
  • Other tasks as required to support the project including:
  • Supporting TECHNATION events and meetings as required
  • Assist with acquisition and the coordination of translation
  • Tracking and reporting on key performance indicators
  • Minor project management and working with TECHNATION leaders to scope project requirements and monitor project deliverables
  • Developing briefs and conducting presentations
  • Research to maximize participant experience, improve efficiency and solidify the TECHNATION brand
  • Other duties as assigned

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in IT, data analysis, database management, econometrics or related field where data analysis is a key function.
  • 3+ years of experience working in an electronic data-driven environment to include data analysis and reporting and data lifecycle management
  • Experience in employment or job-based research, analysis and reporting
  • Education and experience in quantitative and qualitative research
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite components (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple work projects
  • Strong ability to work within a highly dynamic, interdependent and collaborative team
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of application of AI and Machine Learning principlesas applied to data analysis, management and visualization

Desirable characteristics:

  • Post-graduate certificate in data analysis or similar
  • Bilingualism (French/English)
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to exercise foresight
  • Innovative mindset
