TECHNATION (formerly Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC)) is seeking a Manager, Communications reporting to the Director, Communications.

About the Role
TECHNATION is currently seeking a Manager, Communications to join the team to drive brand awareness and to create, implement and oversee communications initiatives that effectively describe and promote the Association’s activities, programs and events.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of deliverables across communications platforms. We’re looking for a strong and effective writer who is able to inspire and educate across many communications mediums.
Candidates will need to be self-motivated individuals, detail oriented, able to work independently with a problem-solving mentality, a desire to think outside of the box.
The Manager must also have excellent oral skills and superior writing, grammar and editing skills. This includes a critical attention to detail. Must have the ability to understand complex material and write clear, lively, engaging and compelling copy in a variety of styles appropriate to target audiences.
The position reports to the Director, Communications, and will work with TECHNATION’s multi-disciplinary team. TECHNATION’s team is hard-working, passionate and focused on building our brand through consistent, member-driven communications initiatives and activities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and produce high-quality, informative content along side the senior team for a variety of mediums including: social media, website, newsletters, press releases, and any other distribution channels deemed appropriate.
- Ensure all messaging aligns with key business priorities and strategies.
- Gather information from across the Association to create presentations, articles, reports, and infographics for variety of audiences
- Help identify media and press opportunities
- Assist with content creation and launch of new website and annual report
- Ensure consistent branding across the Association
- Development/ design of communications/ marketing collateral with contract designers (e.g. infographics, web banners, PowerPoint presentations, social media graphics) for use across the Association related to events, web content, presentations, etc. Would be an asset if candidate can create some marketing materials in-house.
- Help grow and inform stakeholders through social media channels and web content
- Create content and messaging in the appropriate voice and tone that aligns to strategic initiatives
- Track and maintain projects and metrics
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5-7 years of related work experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational, planning and project skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience with software including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Would be an asset if also have various graphics, desktop and web publishing and web analytics skills
- Strong writer
- Ability to multitask and monitor several projects and accounts on a daily basis
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively
- Ability to take initiative to develop new strategies and outside-the-box ideas for social media.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team
- Post-Secondary Education – Degree, Certificate, Diploma in Communications and/or Marketing
- Adapts to new technology tools quickly
- Able to flourish in a fast-paced environment with strong multi-tasking skills
- High degree of professionalism with excellent customer service skills
- Excellent attention to detail and exceptional organization skills
- Ability to meet deadlines with little supervision and in changing environments
- Assets:
- Digital Marketing experience (website, social, measurement, email marketing experience an asset)
- Bilingual
- Highly proficient in photography and video for social media
- Experience and knowledge of web development, Word Press, SEO and SEM
- Experience using digital media creation programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint, etc. a strong asset
