Things You Can Do Better With PeopleSoft On Oracle Cloud

Information Technology Blog - - Things You Can Do Better With PeopleSoft On Oracle Cloud - Information Technology Blog

The customers of Oracle PeopleSoft tend to stay loyal to the brand. They have actively contributed to the new product features, given the right direction, and even built a strong user community just by sharing their experience and knowledge.

Each customer implements PeopleSoft uniquely, although they do have some things in common such as maintenance, patching, enhancing, extending, and integrating applications.

With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS) and Platform as a Service(PaaS), the customers have many options that help to streamline their maintenance activities without any performance overheads, with improved response times, reduced manual errors, and automated pre and post-maintenance tasks. It also provides on-demand capacity and performance.

Let’s have a look at five PeopleSoft maintenance tasks that are done better on Oracle Cloud than on-premise.

Deploy Time

A new instance of PeopleSoft takes from a few days to few weeks and sometimes months to deploy, and this varies on the on-premise customer environment, resource and infrastructure availability, process and procedure, and even the right skill set required to deploy a new instance.

The Oracle cloud is quite consistent, high-quality, and gives a good performance. You can use the new Oracle Cloud Marketplace for pre-built images of PeopleSoft applications to instantly create your own PeopleSoft instance. With PeopleSoft to Oracle Cloud you can store images of your own code, config, data, and security, and then use them to instantly deploy a new PeopleSoft instance.

You can click, select, and deploy various additional instances based on your needs. You can also tear them down and discard them as you build.

Backup and Restore

You can perform backup and restoration with the help of the RMAN tool or even customized scripts, and in the worst-case scenario, you can perform it manually.

It has always been a challenge to find a backup that can be used when the need arises. There are always new dependencies on disk space, offsite storage, and even servers that delay and complicate your backup and restore process.

Oracle Database Cloud Server makes this process much easier. You can subscribe to the Database Cloud Service or the Database Backup Cloud service that will configure your instance for backup. You won’t have to worry about whether there is limited storage for backups as the Storage Cloud with the Database Cloud will take care of it for you.

To change your backup policy, all you need to do is log in to the Cloud portal and make the necessary changes.

Production

  • Each customer can schedule to refresh data from the production down to non-production instances. If this is not automated then customers will spend significant time, resources, and money for this task. Oracle Cloud makes this much simpler.
  • Using your Cloud Portal, with just a few clicks you can select an instance and create a snapshot of the entire instance. You can use this snapshot to create a new Dev or Test instance and then use the DPK or PTF to run tasks that will configure your instance.
  • You can also use Oracle Database Vault Service to secure your transactional data.

Monitoring

You can monitor Oracle Cloud using Oracle Application Performance Monitoring Cloud Service and Oracle Management Cloud that helps to unify DevOps for a healthy production and development ecosystem.

Using these tools, application monitoring becomes easy to set up. You can even auto-discover your PeopleSoft instance and start monitoring all critical services and servers, which will give you real-time information via the Cloud Portal.

Upgrade

Whenever a customer applies for an upgrade or update they can download a new image from the Oracle Support. The Oracle Cloud eliminates the prerequisites for the updates such as infrastructure provisioning, scheduling, and understanding of the installation procedure.

Customers can even choose the latest PUM instance, which is available as a full instance from the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. It also provides customers the freedom to download any number of PUM while only needing to pay for it when the instance is deployed.

Many customers are still confused about whether to put their Oracle PeopleSoft application on the Cloud and Oracle Public Cloud offers a set of solutions that provide answers to your questions.

You can start today with a free trial of Oracle Cloud and you won’t be disappointed.

9 VCs in Madrid and Barcelona discuss the COVID-19 era and look to the future

Spain’s startup ecosystem has two main hubs: Madrid and Barcelona. Most observers place Barcelona first and Madrid second, but the gap appears to close every year. Barcelona has benefitted from attracting expats in search of sun, beach and lifestyle who tend to produce more internationally minded startups. Madrid’s startups have predominantly been Spain or Latin America-focused, but have become increasingly international in nature. Although not part of this survey, we expect Valencia to join next year, as city authorities have been going all-out to attract entrepreneurs and investors. The overall Spanish ecosystem is generally less mature than those in the U.K., France, Sweden and Germany, but it has been improving at a fast clip. More recently, entrepreneurs in Spain have moved away from emulating success in pursuit of innovative technologies. Following the financial crisis, the Spanish government supported the creation of startups with the launch of FOND-ICO GLOBAL, a €1.5 billi
