Hard Drive Health Monitor: HDTune

Information Technology Blog - - Hard Drive Health Monitor: HDTune - Information Technology Blog

HD Tune is a hard disk / SSD utility with many functions. It can be used to measure the drive’s performance, scan for errors, check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.), securely erase all data and much more.

Determine if your hard drive is about to crash with HD Tune. This one has been around for a while now, and still working well.

The free version of HD Tune is adequate for most purposes and gives you a rough estimate of your drive’s performance, scans your disk for errors, and retrieves the S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) info from your hard drive. Said S.M.A.R.T. info (often reported by your BIOS at boot time) can tell you if your hard drive is about to give up the ghost.

Pro version costs includes write tests, file tests, better logging, more stats, and a few other tricks. If you do any serious work testing hard drives, it’s well worth it. For most users, this free utility is more than adequate.

HD Tune Pro is a hard disk / SSD utility with many functions. It can be used to measure the drive's performance, scan for errors, check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.), securely erase all data and much more.

9 VCs in Madrid and Barcelona discuss the COVID-19 era and look to the future

Spain’s startup ecosystem has two main hubs: Madrid and Barcelona. Most observers place Barcelona first and Madrid second, but the gap appears to close every year. Barcelona has benefitted from attracting expats in search of sun, beach and lifestyle who tend to produce more internationally minded startups. Madrid’s startups have predominantly been Spain or Latin America-focused, but have become increasingly international in nature. Although not part of this survey, we expect Valencia to join next year, as city authorities have been going all-out to attract entrepreneurs and investors. The overall Spanish ecosystem is generally less mature than those in the U.K., France, Sweden and Germany, but it has been improving at a fast clip. More recently, entrepreneurs in Spain have moved away from emulating success in pursuit of innovative technologies. Following the financial crisis, the Spanish government supported the creation of startups with the launch of FOND-ICO GLOBAL, a €1.5 billi...
